There are contact sprays that can be used to clean the electrical contacts. Spray them and with a fine copper wire brush, clean all the contact points. If you have a air blower, blow the scrapings and brush bristles out. There also are caned air used on computers that you can use to blow out the cap and rotor. Make sure the cap is secured and sealed. Make sure the spray states it can be used on electrical contacts and is not oil based. Alcohol based is best as it leaves no residue.
