I have a 93Chevy k1500 with a V6 5speed and I'm wanting to putt a V8 in it How big a deal will it be to change it over? The mechanic at work says everything should bolt up but he mostly does diesels.

Well I'm no engine swap pro by any means, but just off the top of my head, here are the issues I would think you'd run into: V8 should be slightly longer so I would suspect engine mounts would be different. If the engine is longer, that would also mean that the tranny wouldn't bolt up, nor would the drive shafts be the correct length. The computer would have to be swapped out, and most likely the entire wiring harness. Like I said, I'm not sure about any of this, but I would start by checking the issues I brought up first before buying a V8.
You'll have to move the motor mounts, harness will be slightly different but not very. Pcm will need to be changed or go carbed. When I had my 95 4.3 5 speed I liked it, the extra mpg's were nice. But to each his own.

Well I actually like the 4.3 but it's got almost 300,000 on it and I've been having a few problems outta it nothing major but if I go far enough to spend a lot on it inn gonna change it. Like right now when I first start it and it's cold it idles great and runs great but as soon as it warms up the idle goes up and down with it dying about half the time and it runs terrible. Also when it does that after it has set and idled like at a drive thru or something it smokes the place out. It doesn't use a drop of oil but the lifters are chattering also. I've changed a lot of things but still haven't gotten it solved yet.
