Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have been using 10-30 but the truck runs slightly rougher the past couple of
years. Interested in recommendations for the best motor oil weight. Original
engine, love this truck.

The oil weight has nothing to do with rough running, just change it every 3,000 miles. Try tuning it up.
I probably shouldn't have mentioned rough running. It is very slight. I am a stickler about changing the oil, which is probably why the truck is doing so well at 26.5 years. I would still like to hear about other people's experiences with oil weight. As far as a tune-up, I plan to it when it is due. Maybe a little sooner.
If the engine is not using oil I would stick with what you are using. If it is you could try 10W-40.
I have a '92 Silverado with 309,000 miles I bought new in 1992. Have lived in NC, TN, KY and have always used Castol GTX 10W-40 conventional oil and changed every 3000 miles. Truck still going strong.
