trans shifts hard anything to do with bad U jiont or an ajustment?

shifts hard and firm wips your head back 350 V8 700r4 automatic high miler 280000 miles. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? U jionts seem badly worn when shifting from park to drive  or reverse it jerks and loud clunk is heard

it more than likely is a bad u joint. i had a 92 4x4. change the u joints in it first. mine was doing the same thing but it turned out to be an internal problem. the u joints solved the clunking but not the jerking. sometimes the drive links go bad. at least that's what i was told by the dealer.

Bad u-joints may put a strain on the transmission and cause unusual wearing of the internal parts which in turn causes more wear and creating leaks internal. The hard shifting sound like it is not a smooth transition into the next gear? That will no doubt be internal. The cheaper way to go is to change the u-joints and see what that does. If it does not fix the hard shifting, have the trans analyzed.
