A 1990...that's a close call. With high mileage might be better off with a crate engine. A Head gasket kit, that includes head, intake, exhaust, valve covers, and some other ones runs from $50 crappy quality to $150 for high-quality. Add sending out heads for a valve job, oil, coolant and a weekend...is it worth it? It depends on the condition of the lower end and your budget. And if you have all the needed tools. Your question, ..cheaper? The head job. But that engine, if original, may be throwing good money at an engine that might need rings, etc. And what would fit? Another 350 would be best
