what could be wrong?

When car is cold I can go forward all gears work when car is warm I only have reverse. I
put the gear shift in gear but just has high rpms and no movement but will move in
reverse. what is going on?

Have you checked your fluid level? To properly check the fluid, you have to do it with the engine running and preferably warm. With engine running, pull stick, wipe clean, put stick back in, take reading. If low on fluid, you will have to buy a transmission funnel if you don't already own one. You need to put the funnel in the same hole that you pulled the dipstick from.
