does folding rear seat affect cost of strut replacement?

I have a 2007 toyota camry LE that needs its rear struts replaced. I got a quote from an
auto shop for $826. They said that because the rear seat could fold down and was not
fixed, it would be harder to replace and therefore cost more. Why would the rear
passenger seat folding down affect replacing the struts under the car?

Nothing, take that car to another shop $826.00 is way to high to change struts on any car. That repair should be no more then $500.00 depending on what part of the country you live in and if they are using complete strut assembly or just the cartridge.
