Remote Engine Starter

Asked by Nate Jan 11, 2016 at 09:25 PM about the 2007 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My remote engine starter has stopped working.
It still locks, unlocks, opens the trunk, and
triggers the alarm. I have already replaced the
battery, with no luck. Any suggestions or help
would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Is this made by Toyota or is it an after market one? I have had the same issue with my after market one. Sometimes there is a switch under the dash that has to be switched from OFF to ON. AIt's a protection switch that you turn to OFF when jumping the vehicle or changing out the battery. If you have had the windshield replaced recently, that will cause your remote starter to not work if the guy replacing the windshield wasn't careful and broke the small wire that is stuck to the top of the glass. (That's what cause my no start.) Have you checked for an inline fuse? There should be one in there someplace if it's an after market install. If it's a Toyota starter, I would bring it to them. Post back with results. Thanks and good luck!

Thank you for your help! It is a Toyota remote starter. I'm coming due for an oil change, so the maintenance required light is blinking. I went ahead and turned it off and now my remote start seems to be working! I'm going to call up to the Toyota place and double check that would make a difference. Thanks again!
