06 Mountaineer Will not Accelerate.. What do you think?
My 2006 Mercury Mountaineer V8 is having what I believe is multiple problems..
First when I start the vehicle it will sit there just fine and idle, then when I move it into Reverse or Drive it starts idling
very badly up to the point where it will actually stall. Unless of course I move it back to Neutral or Park before it
manages to stall.
Then after letting it run and idle a bit in the driveway I was able to get it to not stall while in Drive so I took it around
the neighborhood and now it's at a point where If I try to accelerate it feels like It's not registering that I'm pushing the
pedal, basically leading to me having to accelerate VERY (it's un-driveable) slowly to get up to maybe 20-30mph and
then once you're around those speeds and you try to accelerate further the RPMs rev high and you gain speed at a
very slow rate. I haven't gotten it over 40mph since this issue started.
I've had the codes scanned multiple times but I actually have a ton of codes, some have to do with O2 Sensors,
some have to do with Retarded Timing, Most of them are misfires in random cylinders. (I've changed plugs, and
coils)
I've changed the Fuel filter recently, I've cleaned the Throttle body recently, I've cleaned the MAF sensor.
Extra info - Good on oil, no overheating, even before this problem started it always ran sluggish and guzzled gas..
Thanks!
