98 oldsmobile 88

Asked by Donchell Oct 08, 2017 at 05:28 PM about the 1998 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight 4 Dr LS Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About 2 weeks ago I tried to start my car and it wouldn't
crank,  all I heard was a click. I got the starter tested at
autozone and it failed the test so I bought a new one.  The
car ran perfect for a whole week now it's doing the same
click again.  I took the new starter back to autozone to get
it tested and it pass all the tests. I got My battery about 2
months ago and its reading 12.6. What should I do next?

well if the starter clicks that means it's getting power , and if the batt. is good and the terminals and all other elec. connections are clean and tight then the starter may be junk out of the box , don't buy cheap .

I bought 5 bad starters once from autozone in a 2 day period. Never buy anything electrical that is manufactured by autozone. Duralast parts are trash!

Also make sure your battery cables are in good shape, no open bare wires showing.
