I have a 1993 oldsmobile 88 royale ...When I
start my car on a hot day my car clicks when
I shift it into gear . When I put it back in park
clicking stops . And when I drive it .
sometimes clicks again for few seconds like
about 30 sec. . There are no relays below
dash . So I really need help here . So I got

I would suspect the shifter/brake interlock solenoid. The solenoid is on top of the steering column, behind the dash. When your shifter is in park, with your foot off the brake, and the ignition in the run position the solenoid is energized locking the shifter. When you step on the brake pedal the solenoid is deenergized and the shifter is unlocked so you can shift out of park. Are your brake lights working correctly? Any flickering of the brake lights on and off when the clicking under the dash is going on? If so, I'd suspect a bad brake light switch that's causing the solenoid to be energized and deenergized quickly causing the clicking you're hearing. You can also unplug the solenoid for testing purposes and see if the clicking stops. Hope that helps! Jim
Thanks I will check it out
You're welcome. Glad to help! Jim
I found the clicking noise and felt it smell almost like burning motherboard ... Anyhow same car 1993 oldsmobile 88 Royale. What's the name for this part. Above the fuse panel. Please . Heres a picture
Hope this one better ....
Gmpartsgiant. com shows a couple of modules under the dash. A theft deterrent module and a headlight module. If you can post a picture of the other side of it or of any other numbers on it that would be helpful. Jim
