Does you car have an "Oil Cooler" connected to or inline with the oil filter ? Check to see if there are two lines running from the oil filter area to the water pump or manifold area, if there are you have an oil cooler on your vehicle. If so maybe the coolant line is leaking and just needs to be tightened up, or worst case scenario is - something above the oil filter is leaking antifreeze which could be oil cooler cracked (leaking form cooler and down onto oil filter, Head gasket going and spraying onto filter ?, Crack in block you can only find under pressure ?, Heater hose above oil filter has crack in it ?, Or is there a engine block thermostatically controlled switch that could be leaking in the immediate area ? Are you seeing green antifreeze or just water ?
i have the same problem. i have 2000 9-3 2.0 base. Oil clooler is in front of radiator so its not that. Mine looks like its dripping from the block but unless the turbo and manifold is taken out i cant know for sure. It started to leak the next day after i had the heater core replaced. All hoses are gd.
I had the exact same problem. i had my heater core replace and the next day it was leaking anti freeze. i could see were its dripping. I replaced my water pump since it was starting to go. While i had everything cleared out i ran my fingers up under part of the engine block to feel for any cracks. Nothing. After getting it all together its still leaking in the same spot. I cant think of anything but the engine block has a crack u can't feel. Nothing else is there that can leak.
Well update on the leak is that its not a crack. Can see the leak and its from the pipe that comes out of the engine to the water pump housing.
well ! I guess I have to do all of the above, since I just noticed. Will keep u inform of my task. Thank for your info.
