Why won't the interior lights go on when I open my door?

Asked by StilezC Feb 19, 2014 at 12:38 AM about the 2001 Saab 9-3 Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I open my door and the interior lights will not go on. It won't work with any door that I open. My battery is fine, as I am able to start and drive the car just fine. Exterior lighting, radio, windshield wipers, etc all work perfectly. What is causing this?

Curious, Do the lights turn on with the manual on/off switch located by the shift stick? Do they turn on with the key FOB when you press unlock?

I know this might be the obvious answer but have to check the light switch on the overhead compartment (on the ceiling in the center by the cabin lights, there are three positions, off, doors, and on)
