im assuming it wont start regular unless u popstart it ...if so check on clutch pedal to see if the switch is working when clutch pedal is pushed down to start car or check starter wire solenoid see if its getting 12v reff if it does u have a bad starter

The clicking you here indicates low voltage from the battery, not enough juice from the battery for the starting system to work. Check the battery connections to make sure there clean and tight. Have the battery checked out if it still does not start, and make sure the alternator is working.

Another possibility is a weak ground from the body to the engine. The grounds need to be good for the starter to operate right and IMO the pop is the drive going out but not enough for it to turn the engine. I imagine the clutch switch is operating correctly if the starter is clicking but it is worth a check. Does it ever cut out while driving or seem weak going up hills? If it does, I would say ground cuz of the plugs and injectors and other sensors. Please keep us posted.
