What could cause an '03 X-Type Jag not to engage in drive gear?

Asked by budjack Oct 07, 2017 at 02:45 PM about the 2003 Jaguar X-TYPE 2.5L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had the oil pan gasket changed on a 2003 X-Type Jaguar (11hrs labor).
After driving two days, went to start car and heard a clanking sound.
Found serpentine belt tore, and car will not engage into drive gear.
As they had to remove a lot of items, and brackets to get to the oil pan gasket, what could have happened--?

A lot of things coud have happened but my first guess is they didn't fill up the transmission properly.

Larry; Thanks for providing some insight. Do you have additional information as to the "proper" procedure for filling the transmission--?

11 hours to change an oil pan gasket!!!!! I could rebuild the engine in that time!
