My 1997 Discovery will not drive in any gear?

Asked by Iamrandomguy Jun 30, 2013 at 02:44 PM about the 1997 Land Rover Discovery 4 Dr SE7 AWD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my car towed home on Friday night because it wouldn't start after a car wash. It has
dried out and will start no problem but when I put it in drive it wil not move. The same
thing happens with reverse.
Is my transmission shot?

Transmission control unit may be knackered due to water damage, or there is still a bit of moisture somewhere in a connector that is throwing it all off.

Turns out it was water in the Rollover Inhibitor module. This caused all drive systems to shut down thinking I had rolled. That is now bypassed and all is working great. No more automated car washes.
