Cure for misfueling - Petrol in Diesel engine

Asked by ROGL Jun 30, 2017 at 09:21 AM about the 2004 Land Rover Discovery HSE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Unleaded petrol in a diesel engine LR Disco 3. Flushed and cleaned filters and punp and filled up with diesel, now a loud knocking/tapping noise from engine when driving. No faults diagnosed, so must be mechanical? Any ideas. With garage now, thanks,

Thanks for the advice, that's what the engineer said who drained the fuel tank, lines and filters and then restarted the engine. But the garage I left it with said the noise was too loud for injectors, sounds more mechanical, possibly camshaft?
