I need a bell housing (cover of transmission) for a 2007 Kia Sportage LX 4WD

Asked by CaroleW Jan 08, 2016 at 10:33 AM about the 2007 Kia Sportage LX 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Over two months ago it had a hole put thru it from a bad clutch. Clutch is
covered under clutch warranty but they wont cover damage to bell housing.
Repair place now suddenly telling me that bell housing, which WAS
supposed to be purchased from dealer-only, is NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!
Is this possible, on a 2007 vehicle- that a NEW replacement part can no
longer be bought even from a dealer, even at very pricey cost? A used
cover supposedly cant be found either. Do I really have to junk my car?
This has been dragging on for months and still no repair.

Wow, dealers do discontinue certain items since normally something like a bell housing does not go bad. Can't believe you can't find one at a junkyard. So I would search on line for one, try e-bay, or just put a search in to see what you can find.

The repair shop supposedly has been doing that (for two months now) and then gave up and now supposedly the dealer part is no longer available. Now they are supposedly looking for a whole used transmission. This has been a horrible mess for so long I cant stand it.
