So will it be a easy task for someone to do and should it cost much.
Okay you are saying the part is not expensive. Okay i will look around to where i can go or see if I know someone that will help me. Thanks for the information. I wont go to a dealership for sure
Okay thanks. What would your guess be if it was something else
Apparently this is planned obsolescence from Kia. I have the same exact problem in my 2007 Spectra. Lame.
on my coworkers 2007 Spectra, the actual Rod broke....
I'm having the same issue with my 07 Spectra. Replaced the driver side inner door handle cable and the door still isn't opening. I'm at a loss of what to do at this point.
Why is it so hard to find a replacement part for an 08 Kia Spectra locking door actuator for the driver rear side.. I looked everywhere online only coulf fine rear passenger side. Are they the same part for both sides

It's not a rod it's a cable. Now what? To all who said, "little clip that connects top rod" or whatever you guessed. Take off a door panel before spreading miss information folks.
I have the same issue as what GA described. I opened up the door found the cable popped out of the plastic clip that holds it to the inside release lever. That solved the problem - for a week or two then it happened again. I've opened up the door now for the forth time. Previously I've tried bailing wire to keep the plastic clip in place. That worked well - for a while - see photo. But now that plastic clip has pulled completely out of the lever. I've now put it back in place. I'm now guessing that the problem is that too much force is being required to open the latch due to cold weather (I live in MN) or poor lubrication. I'm going to try lubrication next.
