Asked by Terri Jul 29, 2017 at 04:44 PM about the 2001 Acura TL 3.2 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So recently some crazy person decided to pour
sugar and water in my gas tank (seen with my own
eyes). I went to go start my car but i never turned
the engine on just turn the radio on and turned it
right off. What do I need to do.

Gas tank needs to be removed, drained and cleaned. DO NOT start the vehicle.

Yes do not start car, have car towed and have tank and fuel nozzle completely cleaned out by a professional.

Sugar will not hurt your engine and the fuel filter will take it out but the filter could be plugged up with sugar. The water though is a problem. Best to drain the tank.
