Acura TL ransmission

Ronnie...that will be tough to answer. You can only surmise the answer to that question through a bit of research. Go to the Consumers Reports used cars issue. Look up the Acura TL; they should have several years of it listed. They list all areas that are good, bad or average; this would include the transmission. Also, they have a list of cars they recommend as reliable when bought used; also, a list of cars to avoid. See what the verdict is on your Acura. Consumers Reports is non biased and very accurate. 85% of their information is provided by consumers using the vehicles in real time applications. I had a 1990 Taurus SHO which I bought new and thought was a very good car. I checked the used car issue and they said to avoid it. I saw a detailed list of problem areas with my car they had listed. Only one or two affected my car. However, before I finally sold it some years later, each item thay listed became an issue. I hope that points you in the right direction.
Our 02 TL S-Type is on the 3rd transmission. The good news is that each one was a free replacement due to recalls and the 100k warranty on pre-certified vehicles, as well as 100k on drivetrain(?). Not sure why they extended the warranty on transmissions, but I think all 01-03s at least are covered to 100k. We now have 136k on it and it goes fine. Just change the fluid every 30k at least.
I purchased my certified 2001 TL knowing that the transmission had problems; however, with warranty I just waited for to go out! It went out at 49,578 miles! I knew that the 2000 - 2002 transmissions had transmission problems from consumer reports & other car research web sites! I had it repaired or a rebuilt installed & I had NO problems with my 2001 TL with 126,300 miles . . . I have the TL serviced at Walker Acura for the last 10 years, TL runs well! Thanks to the their good mechanics & service department at Walker Acura, Metairie, LA! 01.03.14 . . . http://www.walkeracura.com/ . . . Tom
