Asked by GuruLM9M Apr 16, 2017 at 04:26 PM about the 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE or Indy

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I did the spark plug and wire on my Fiero
then i try to turn it on. The engine made a
loud popping sound like a gun shot. So my
dad fixed it and now it still don't want to turn
on. It sounds like it want to turn on but it
doesn't. I hear the starter, it got gas, the
battery is new and still nothing but wen i try
to turn it on i smell gas. I don't know was
wrong.

Need a little more info, is your car fuel injected or naturally aspirated? And as far as your battery being brand new I would still check it I've bought batteries that came off the shelf bad. It happens.

Have you tried putting the old sparkplug wires back on. To make sure it's not your new wires?
