1985 pontiac fiero wont push start, any ideas/solutions?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
i have a 1985 4 cylinder 5 speed 2.5 liter pontiac fiero, it wont start, it had a
bad starter, we decided it was the solenoid, but we havent replaced it yet, it
would sometimes not start after it was running and i would have to wait
about 30 minutes to an hour to start it again, the last time i tried to start it, it
had sat overnight, it wouldnt start, and we couldnt get it to push start, i was
told it should push start even if the starter is bad, which makes sense
considering we push started it multiple times when it had the bad solenoid,
any ideas what else could be wrong? and how to check/fix?

check for spark, check distributor, check the HT leads, check for gas up at the carb
I had a very similar issue with my 86 GT. It would start cold every time no problem. But once it warmed up it would not restart until it cooled down for a while. It started out at like 30 minutes and eventually was more like an hour or more. No worries when I had to leave for work in the am. But if I accidently killed the car during my drive I was left stranded right there (have a great story of cops pushing me out of an intersection even, lol). My boss owns a small engine repair shop and even he thought it was the solenoid. I finally stopped listening to everyone and their ideas and just got a new starter for my car. Voila!! Problem solved. Sounds likenyou are in similar shoes. Stop parking on hills so you can roll start your car if it won't crank (at least that was what I did, lol). An 80 starter was all I needed. And let me tell you. It is SO nice not having to worry if my car was going to start up or not. If your car won't start once it warms up I am willing to bet you have the same issue I had.
