1985 Buick Regal v6, will not start

Asked by don066309 May 31, 2014 at 07:45 PM about the 1985 Buick Regal Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The battery is fully charged and battery termonals and post cleaned but when I turn the
key I just get a clicking noise.  To me I think it's a starter solenoid.  If it is what is the
repair?

If all is good as you state it might be the starter. With some one turning the key to the start position check the small wire going to starter for voltage. It should have 12 volts on it when key in start position. If it does no or has less jump back to battery/connection issue ect. If it does and starter does not engage replace starter. Oh make sure the big wire on starter has 12 volts on it too. But the big one will be energized all the time even with key out of car.
