As I was attempting to make a u-turn when my power steering went out. I thought my
truck had turned off because that's exactly what it felt like when I tried to make the turn. I
can no longer drive my truck it's too hard to turn. There's plenty of power steering fluid.
What caused the powering to go out?

PRESSURE..BELT ON? BLOW A LINE? YOU SAY IT HAS FLUID.IF ITS NOT A HARD PARTS TRY AND OPEN A LINE WITH IT RUNNING AND TURN WHEELS LEFT AND RIGHT WHILE SOMEONE ADDS/KEEPS FLUID UP//AIR MAYBE.IF IT COME BACK TO LIFE TIGHTEN THE HOSE AND TO OFF...FOR A START.

One of the valves in the rack and pinion most likely got stuck. Has it started working again ?

You can put some Lucas Power Steering Fluid and Stop Leak to the power steering pump. It not only stops leaks but also lubricants the seals and valves in the system.
