2007 sierra 1500 oil pressure problem

Asked by ChrisFry Dec 05, 2016 at 03:20 PM about the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been having similar issues. My 2007 gmc
sierra lte 6.0L gas on start up slowly reaches
60psi. After driving 10min the oil falls to 35psi on
the freeway and 20psi on town roads. Idle is at
15psi. This was all checked by mechanical gauge.
Normal operating oil psi had been 40 no matter
what the condition. The engine was rebuilt, new oil
sending unit, new oil pump/ o rings, gaskets, etc...
Same problem. No engine lights. Could this be an
electrical or computer issue? Any insight as to
either?

Strictly mechanical. You have internal engine wear. Rod, cam or main bearings are worn

But I have completely rebuilt the engine. Engine wear before the malfunction had caused the vehicle to not run after warm (because the oil pressure was to low). Now the oil pressure is high on startup and low after warming.

Take it back to who ever rebuilt it, should be under warranty and be careful because they may just throw some heavier oil to bring pressure up

Sorry for the long wait. It took this long to get the truck back. The engine was rebuilt with performance parts.. the builder even replaced parts on a timing piece that GM said may be the problem. Still the same issue. High oil pressure at idle (55psi) and low after warm (20psi). Oil pressure increases as the throttle is hit. Could this be a timing issue?
