metal on metal sound when the wheels are cut while stopping.

Asked by ntalwd2pntitpnk Apr 20, 2018 at 10:12 AM about the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It doesn't make the sound every time I turn the wheels. So here's what it
does: my kids daycare's parking lot is right off a main road. In order to park
you have to hard cut the wheel and turn decently quick and immediately
brake. The wheels are usually still cut when she stops and settles. That
moment is when I get a round hollow sounding metal on metal kind of rattle
from the front end. I don't know what it is but I'm pretty sure it isn't a healthy
sound. She's been on a lift more than once about this sound but she refuses
to make the sound for the techs. Could anyone help me feel like I'm not
crazy and hearing phantom sounds?
