Oil Pressure drops why

new oil pump, new oil sending unit, engine rebuilt 6 months ago. oil pressure
now starts at 20 psi and drops to 5 to 8 psi. why

A bad rebuild? If bearing clearances are too loose you won't get good oil pressure. What exactly was done in this so called "rebuild"?

Hook a manual oil pressure gauge up to the engine and read the true pressure. Sometimes The gauge cluster can fail on those trucks.
