My pontiac g6 has a code po974 shift solenoid A control circuit high. What does this mean? Please let me know, help!!!

This codes is letting you know that the TCM, transmission control module has detected a short to voltage on the 1-2 solenoid for more than 4 seconds. The TCM will then command maximum line pressure and freeze the adaptive functions of the transmission. I recommend taking the vehicle to a trusted repair facility and verifying that replacement of the solenoid(s) will correct your problem.
