2008 Ford Escape Issue with Car Shaking, Acceleration, and Brake Grinding

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello! I've recently had problems with my 2008 Ford Escape. The problem is
extremely intermittent and only occurs about once every week or so. This
problem occurs mostly when going over 50 mph, and what happens is that the
entire front end of the car (body, steering wheel, dash, etc.) shakes extremely
excessively and the acceleration does not work properly. Most often it does
not let me go past 50 mph, but at one point it did not allow me to exceed 20
mph and I had to have it towed to a Ford dealership. The brakes also grind
when coming to a stop, accelerating after a full stop, and switching gears
whenever this occurs. I've taken it to a few auto shops with no resolution as it
is not possible to replicate the problem and show them what is actually
happening. I'm unsure as to what this issue might be, and any help is greatly
appreciated! Thanks!

My wife is having the exact same issue. I thought it was her brakes so I did a full brake job- new calipers, rotors, pads, and fluid. Seemed fine for two weeks. But it happened again today. I also don't have a solution and have not been able to replicate for maintenance shop to see the issue.

Have you tried replacing the rubber brake line that runs from the caliper to the steel line located and mounted up in the fenderwell?

I have done that changes that line and replaced calipers and pads and had my rotor turned but I still have the same noise of sounding like brakes dragging when pushing the brake pedal any more suggestions

For anyone wondering what the problem was, I ended up having to get all rotors replaced as well as the slightly worn pads and calipers. Hope this helps!

I have already replaced the calipers and pads on both sides I went back and bleed the lines from the master cylinder and then I rebled the brake that I had trouble with
