how do you prevent -20 washer fluid from freesing up in mn weather when below 20 degrees

Usually those don't freeze up instantly when it goes under that what is promised and tank is in "safe" place so it don't get as cold as weather is. I have used fluid for -20°C in my tank even when weather has been under -30°C no broken tanks or tubes. And usually you don't need to use that when it is that cold so if it get little freeze it doesn't matter. /Harri @ Finland -10°C (now)

I don't see any reason you couldn't just mix it with stuff that has a lower freezing point. Just park your car in a warm place for a while and put some -30 or -40 in. then run it through the lines. Also, try checking to make sure the sprayer doesn't have ice in it.

well, let it warm up, then use the washers to drain the tank. mixing another type with a lower freeze point will not work - if you at -30 washer fluid to -20 washer fluid then effectivly it'll only be goot to (in therory) -25, but in reality it probably not much better than a -22 rating. you can try adding some denatured alcohol to the washer fluid, that might help a little.
