Battery over heated

Yesterday my battery got extremely hot. It
was stinking and you could hear it bubbling.
I got both the battery and the alternator
checked and they were perfectly fine. They
said it may be the computer. I'm not in the
position to spend a bunch. Any ideas?

Also, last weekend it needed to be jumped, was fine all week, then had to be jumped agaun yesterday
Voltage regulator in alternator most likely is putting out too much voltage to the battery causing this. Your at least looking a getting another battery. Sometimes the voltage regulators for alternators can be replaced without buying a whole new alternator. Btw the fumes from batteries are not very healthy to breathe. Good Luck!
Like Brian said, but I would replace the alternator and the battery. The fumes are battery acid fumes from over charging, and by the sounds of it, both battery and alternator are in need of replacement.
The alternator is either overcharging or the battery has a shorted cell. Get them checked again at a different place. Best case scenario is only the battery is bad.
