Vibrations are caused by rotating parts, the shake, as you note, is likely the bad engine mount. Check the rotating parts on the engine, such as drive pulleys and serpentine belt. The engine itself may have something off balance, like the flex plate or harmonic balancer. You should ensure it is firing on all cylinders and isn't running rough. You should also check the CV shafts. It wouldn't hurt to spin balance the tires as well, a broken steel belt can cause a tire to vibrate. A good mechanic should be able to pinpoint where the vibration is coming from during a test drive or two.
But first do the obvious. Fix the bad motor mount. That will likely solve the problem. If not determine if it is the engine vibrating or the driveline. Sounds suspiciously like a bad axle shaft to me.
