Synthetic Blend Oil in Chevy HHR 2007

The on board computer measures many things to calculate when an oil change is necessary. It does not perform any analysis on the engine oil. Why not just change it at 5,000 to 7,500 miles using a good quality name brand oil. Synthetic or not, it doesn't make much of a difference in a non-turbo charged or non-supercharged application.
Thanks. Not sure what is going on, one day I can see some avatars other days I can not.

the oil life is a mathematical equation that is based on temperature and start and run time etc. you are right it does not sample the oil what so ever. in your owners manual when it says under normal driving conditions they mean mostly freeway driving, like 70% or more. that goes for anything automotive...tires etc. if you are below that you will fall into the severe catagory, stay at 3k. as for turbos the above info is wrong as most are cooled by oil which means your oil is subjected to a lot of heat which means it breaks down faster...invest in a turbo timer. dont have one but your vehicle is a automatic then use your remote start. it will shut off automatically in 10-15min and cool your turbo and make your oil last longer. last 2 things...your oil filter is one of the most important if its crap like marf it will be in bypass most of the time and not even filtering, use wix at a minimum. lastly if you use synthetic 5w30 go to your chevy dealer....why. chevy change there dexos from synthetic blend to full synthetic and its only 34.95. no one can touch that anywhere!!
