New dimmer switch but no running board lights

I have a 2007 Ford Explorer just had the dimmer switch replaced by a friend but
the running board lights won't come on when opening the door and they worked
before replacing the switch.. How do I get the lights to go back on Please help.

The BCM will need to be updated after the new parts were installed.
