I have a 2007 ford five hundred the check charge system/battery coming on and the battery not charging, I put a brand new battery and alternators in it. Light still on? I check the voltage fuse it's good. Do ford have a special alternator for this car?

Check voltage on hot wire behind alternator to see if it has 12.4 volts to it. If it doesn't, trace wire to fuse box to see where it gas bad connection, corrosion or broken.

Check the large fuse F17 30amps in the power distribution box, If Ok have the voltage checked at the battery terminals vehicle running should be 13.4-14.8 volts...the after market alternators do not perform well on the 2007.

I lost my manual is this where the F17 fuse located? If so my is a little red 10 fuses not 30 amp

Check under the hood in the battery junction box open it and there will be a diagram for the large alternator fuse. Make sure its not burnt

Ok, ford charged me 585 dollars for labor the part cost 17 dollars, it was the red positive battery post it overheated. The red post from the alternator to the battery

Studda, are you saying they charged $585 to replace the positive battery clamp? I hope I misunderstood. But, a dealer charged my brother $50 to install a new battery that he bought at the dealer! Most auto stores will install a battery free if you buy from them.Johnny

@JohnnyG53 All I know is they told me that my red(positive) cord from the battery and the starter was burned out, they don't sell that part nowhere. I even checked the junkyards, they changed me 600 to repair mine.

@Studa you would've followed our suggestions you would've found it and saved that $$$

Irodri911 , Well, now I'm having a similar problem and I thought you or somebody could help. I have a 2006 Ford five hundred, battery less than 1 year old, wouldn't start, had to jump. Took to mechanic he said it was faulty alternator. Replaced the alternator, the car runs fine now, so far it starts just fine, except my battery light is still on and warning " check charging system" is on. Any suggestions on what to have checked? I appreciate any help. Thanks, John

John, this means the alternator still not charging. It's running til the battery charge is drained. U don't have to pay a mechanic to check charging system, take ut Auto zone and they will check it free of charge. If it is charging and light still on, check fuses or loose wires from alternator and fuse box

Irodri911 well since I had the alternator installed, the car starts and runs just fine, even at night time using lights, etc.. The issue is since then my battery light is still on, and the warning " check charging system". But the car starts and runs just fine so far. Thanks, John

Take it to auto zone first to make sure it is charging

My battery light is on but everything else it still good the alternative is at 14.75 and I got a new battery why is my light still on

Guru545GX, I'm not a mechanic, I previously posted above with similar issues, so others here are more knowledgeable. After having my alternator and battery replaced, my car ran just fine, started just fine, but my battery light stayed on all the time, and a warning for me to " check charging system". Finally, I took it to a different mechanic, he told me the alternator I had put on was bad. Actually, the first one they received as a replacement waa also bad, they said they checked it, so after another was sent and they installed the alternator, it's been fine since. I think first time was around $350-$400, and second alternator parts & labor was $400. It's been fine since, no light, no warning, starts fine, all good. Its a 2006 Ford five hundred limited. Ok so I replaced the alternator on a 2006 Ford 500 today. Now it won’t start up. I put everything back together just how I took it off and everything looked good. It would at least start before I replaced it when you would jump it off. Now it won’t start at all. Any clue what it is?????

Check the wires going to the starter, you might've accidentally disconnected them or left a wire off somewhere. If all wires are connected, check for voltage at the starter when you try to start it to make sure it has power to it

These guys know more than I do, I'm not a mechanic, but I had similar charging/alternator issues on my 2006 Ford 500 limited, see my old post above. Finally, what my problem end up being,, the alternator went out and when replaced the car started and ran just fine, but my alternator light, and " check charging system" warning stayed on, even though the car started and ran just fine. Then another mechanic told me the alternator I had replaced was bad. So, after two alternators, they received a good alternator, installed it, and that worked, car started, ran fine, and all lights and warnings went off. Fixed. So, maybe you received a faulty alternator,,just a suggestion, they should be able to test it. Good luck, JohnG

I own a 2005 Ford Five Hundred Limited. The Check Charging system fault started about 2 weeks ago and the Airbag Light comes on when fault happens. It mostly occurs when I am parked with the motor running and the AC on or starting to pull off with the AC on, the fan will stop blowing and then the Check Charging system displays and the motor tries to stall so it seems to need a heavy load on the motor to cause the fault. I have googled the issue and most people say it is usually caused by the Voltage Regulator in the Alternator. I have read several posts that say replacing the alternator with a rebuilt one may or may not fix the problem because a rebuilt alternator does not go through the same tests as a new one and the only way to guarantee it is fixed is to replace it with a new alternator. The people that say this was their fix claim to have replaced their alternator with a rebuilt one 2 or 3 times before trying the new alternator. Has anyone found this to be a fix for the Charging system fault? Any input would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem with .y 2005. My battery light came on so I replaced the battery it came on again and I bought a new alternator from advanced the light came on. Took it to the shop battery light on had the charging system checked 14.4 volts. It runs fine.The battery light comes on when it's at normal operating temperature then it runs rough and wants to stall.

I've had it 12 years and beside the previous charging light/alternator issues have made very little repairs to the vehicle. I've done regular maintenance care, overall I've been very pleased with the car.

I have a 2006 ford 500 and recently had to replace my alternator and battery. After all was put back together car ran until "check charging system" light came on and all my electrical shut off as I was driving. Car still ran but got sluggish and I parked it. I checked the alternator, fuses, wires and even got code P0622. It was suggested I replace the PCM. Before I replace the PCM any other suggestions?

I am having same issue and was told the voltage regulator is bad and it is in the ecu so I have to get it replaced,I went through 4altinator changes to find this out

Now I find out I have to take the ecm out have it sent away to have it fixed which could take weeks

Do like w to a dodge when the ecu regulator fails. Cut the regulator wire and splice in a mechanical ford voltage regulator Easy fix
