Has anyone had brake problems with this car?

I have not heard of this being a common issue but it sounds like perhaps a master cylinder failure. Take it in and have it checked out under warranty.

Yes! I thought it was just me. It seems if you press the brakes, you have to let off then press again and it seems ok. I noticed this not too long a go on my '07. Then just this morning, the car in front of me got cut off and I hit the brakes, car at first started to stop, then all of a sudden seemed to continue forward and rear-ended the car in front of me. I thought it was just the ant-lock brakes, but this makes me wonder....

Same issue for me. Replaced master cylinder, brakes, bled them countless times to see if there was air in the line. Each time problem persists. Various repair shops say its a common manufacturing problem with the '07 but haven't had a ford dealer look at it yet. Dealer should help you best

I have heard that it's going to be a recall on this. So far, no one's complained about it enough to repair it. But it is on all 2007s. Mine has done the same thing. Bought it right off the lot 2006. It's not only the cylinder, it's also the computer attached to it. And my repair bill is 2000 bucks and the part is on backorder from Ford. Because every 2007's got it.

I bought this car brand new off the showroom floor in California in 2000. At 13,000 miles, my brakes were shot - pads were worn down to almost metal on metal (and I didn't ride my brakes). Then like clockwork, every 10,000 miles I could count on the same problem. Finally a mechanic told me it was a universal problem on the car - brake design flaw. Ford outright refused to acknowledge the problem. I even called headquarters and they were evasive and in full denial. Yet I read online of many Focus owners with the same brake problem (2000-2001 models) - some like me with major repair bills and some were in accidents due to brake failure. I, along with many others, joined the class action lawsuit against Ford, which did result in a settlement. Since I was already in so deep with this car, I decided to drive it into the ground. Kept it 8.5 years and 125k miles. But Ford will never ever again have my business. My advice to anyone with an early gen Focus? Get rid of it.

I only have this problem in my 2003 non abs focus when I drive on a poorly gratted dirt road. Rattles the calipers and forces the piston back so I just pump them once in a while if the road is a washboard.

Im having same issues in my 2003 and had no idea of the problems. Im going to change pads, but after reading all the others..it looks like am in for major issues and expensive repairs. I can't get rid of car is the only transportation I got or should I say...I had ..don't know what to do can't afford another car! Damn it!!

Having same issue with a Ford Focus zx3 hatchback. I was having a bad start, turned out to be corroded positive cable. After cleaning it and reattaching it, suddenly my my brakes are no longer working. They were literally fine that morning before hand and every day before. None of the warning sounds or signs of brakes wearing down. Now I’m having to pump the brakes or use the E-brake and I’m terrified to drive. I can’t afford major repairs as I’m a single mom. I don’t know what to do. Will changing the pads even help?!

Has anybody had an issue with parking brake failure on a 2017 or 2018 Ford Focus hatchback?

Tonight the truck in front of me stopped and I tried to brake my 2018 Ford Fusion and the brakes went to the floor. The car didn’t even slow down! I was embarrassed to tell anyone because I didn’t think they’d believe me. I know you aren’t talking about a 2018, but something is definitely wrong with Ford brakes!!

Had nothing but trouble since day 1 buying my 2013 ford focus had the brekes done before Xmas saying it was the brake pump spent £500 after a week driving it went again took it back to ford dealer still part under warranty they supposingly put another 1 on went again so it went back to ford after 2 wks having supposingly looked at it they said it was metal fragments in the engine which clogged the filter and pump they wouldn't fit another 1 and said it needed a new engine costing £5000 and there were 5 cars in workshop waiting engines to basically wasting my time might as well scrap it I got the AA To collect it and bring it back home he ? Why they didn't fix the brakes I told him the story and to my horror said it was bullshit it needed a good service and was rusted and clogged up a little round the brakes caused short distances took me for half hour drive hitting hard each time on brakes worked better but looking forward for him to service and clean up the brakes to see if it's that then ford are going to get what's coming to the big time I would NEVEREVER purchase a ford again and told everyone possible to avoid buying 1 it's only a matter of time before they go under treating customers in this discusting manner

Having brake issues with 2012 Ford Focus. Took it in to dealer who replaced master cylinder - nothing, replaced rear calipers - nothing, drained line - nothing. The dealer is stumped as to what the issue is. Have a call into Ford Help line to see what they tell them what to do. Very frustrating...it has been a week and is only form of transportation to and from work. Luckily am borrowing parents car but that is a real problem when they need it too. Really can't afford another car. Wish Ford would figure out the problem ASAP!!!

I have the 2006 ford focus zxw ses and my front brake/rim overheated/smoked, resistant to go forward after stop and go shopping but ok after it cools down. I replace both front calibers, pistons, bled, and new brake fluid still did not fix the problem. There is no fluid leak, the mechanic thinks it's the master cylinder but that will cost me a bunch to repair.

hi everyone's, I have a 2012 Ford Focus 2.0 and I replaced the brake master cylinder and buster, bot the brake pedal continued going to the floor, also I take out the air on the master and the brake cylinder. so. anybody have idea what is the problem?
