2006 Audi A4 Quattro (Knocking)

Asked by KINGAL Feb 18, 2016 at 08:21 PM about the 2006 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro
Every time I turn on the vehicle and I hear knocking
I recently replace the radiator with a brand new one
and a water pump sure it doesn't have anything to
Do with one of those.

I have a couple of videos.
But I've been told it's "normal" but it doesn't sound
so normal

No I would not think it is normal. If you have isolated the sound to the engine, and not coming from anywhere else, like the exhaust or something, then it could be a rod knock.

check your timing chains as well, any rattling during startup could indicate needs to be replaced soon... that will cost well over $1k in parts and much more in labor, as it requires an engine pull.
