Speedometer listed top speed is 120mph, but I believe it may be governed to around 85-90mph road speed.

2 1/2 Mph of course not the only way you can figure out the top speed of the vehicle is to reprogram the governor its not too hard

v6 07 should govern at 112 mph... but ull get past that with the governor off... o and not all the governors work... and theres ways to get past the ones that are working haha... but get it removed... (not to tough... its all electronic of course... easiest reprogram is to set it to 300mph... ur not gonna get there hahaha) but we got one clocked (private gun haha) at 131mph... and that was balls out in 4th... so ur not gonna get much more... not bad considering the GT only hits about 146 balls out... the sliprier cobras from 2003/04 got a lot more...

Before you guys go off trying to set records, I think you should read this link. The driveshaft that is in our cars were not designed or meant to go over certain speeds for long periods of time. An aluminum one would be the best alternative if you are into racing. Please read this thread below; http://www.mustangforums.com/m_1286750/tm.htm

the new v6 mustangs stock will top out at 113 m.p.h. I know for a fact, they wont run any faster unless you take your gov. out

not in a stock 3.8 man... 1st ur not gonna reach a top speed in 5th gear... (shakes head) and 148 is completley unreasonable...

v6 taps out between 115-130 if your lucky with the governor of course. theres no since in having it removed because they top out at 135 regardless. if your wanting to go faster than that get yourself a gt or drop 3 grand for a supercharger

im pretty sure you can get to 151 with the 5.0 it would just take quite a while.

i have a 96 mustang v6 3.8 232 with a cold air intake and gov turned off it hits 130+ and it has been lowered so it slips in the stream better any tips to make it faster ?

I have a 1999 ford Mustang 3.8L v6, the tak says 120 but I've had it up to that and it still climbs and the governor never shut it off.

Just wanted to take it out on the track for a few laps once in a while and need a governor turned off of a GT with a race package or a Boss 302. Comment about drive shaft not designed for long distance high speed is a given, though that information is important. thanks

I have a 2008 4.0 v6 (Premium Pony + SCS Edition / Performance Package)... According to my navigation system with digital speedometer, on 3 seperate occasions, I've gotten her up to 122,124 & 126 mph and she still felt like she had quite a bit more to give! I had all the adrenaline rush I could handle at 126, had to bring her back down as it was just too unsafe at the point. So, I don't think she has a governer, she all too easily gets up to 100 mph easy, Never shows any signs of lag or burn...

topped out the speedo once but just because of my 3.73 gears. gotta reset that one day.
