what is the top speed of mustang

the v8 is 150 the v6 should be a little under that.

is 150 MPH controlled

i've got a 98 gt with a PI motor, and stock rear end, top is 160, used gps.

even the v6???

For a 2007 Mustang GT...149 as set by Ford at the factory.

Remember the FACTORY will only let it go 150 you can buy chips and programming mods that will elliminate the "electronic Governer" ad allow your GT to go a whole lot FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember the factory has to put certain limitations on their vehicles due to government standards.... even a Viper will top out at just shy of 150 because of the Governer.. if you really want to see what a stang can do loose the governenr and put your foot on the floor!

Which year? Which Engine? My 1965 200 straight 6 tops out at 96 MPH. I dont know what my 1996 V6 tops out at. I havent had a chance to test it but I have gotten it up to 100 so far.

There is not a GT500KR for 2008. They do intend to have one in 2009 but they have not yet made one.

Sorry to tell you mate it's not the government that makes them put the governors in... Some do it because the vehicle becomes unstable at high speed (As is the case with the mustang (It begins to provide lift hence why the raced ones have fairly steep pitches on the spoiler/wings) Some are put in because a certain RPM ranges under load they loose valve control resulting in excess wear or failure... Some do it because most tires aren't designed for high speed and enabling a vehicle to go that speed is likeing handing a serial killer a gun Some do it because of agreements between auto manufacturer's Others do it for safety reasons since it's outside the realm of the average idiot driving on the streets ability to control. I think that covers why it's done.... That's funny. I just drove GT500KR a couple of months ago. For a car that hasn't been made yet it ran 12.4 @ 114 MPH on street tires in very crappy conditions. Look it even has my name on it! :) As to the question at hand the 2009 Ford Mustang V6 should be speed limited to 105 or 110 MPH. The stock tires are only "H" rated tires meaning that they are only rated for a maximum speed of 118 MPH.

The stock V6 tires are BF Goodrich Traction T/A tires with a speed rating of "H" (118MPH) so the car is most likely going to be limited to 105 or 110 MPH.

115 I ran our of road lol in a V6...which top speed is 137, though the tires are rated at 130mph

They may already be in production but the KR is not supposed to come out til the 2009 production year.

Did you see the pilot series Knight Rider with the new Shelby GT500KR??? Yes, the car has been made but only a few are available.

The problem with going over 115 with the 2005-2008 V6 is the driveshaft. There have been reports of it coming apart. If you plan on driving at high speeds a lot, you better plan on purchasing an alumninum driveshaft.

I did not see it but I knew that they were using a Shelby for it. I know that they have made them but I am fairly sure that you cannot get them until next year. Hence them being a 2009 car.

I have a 2007 V6 mustang with the pony package that added Pirelli Z rating tires and I have a governor that stops it at 115 mph. It runs that fast at about 4500 or maybe even 5000 rpm so it's not like it's maxing on power but It probably would not be wise to go much faster.

i have a 2000 mustang Jack Roush edition stage 3 which comes with a supercharger and in a 1/4 mile ive gotten it up to 130mph

For a v-8 about 155, depends on the rear end gears.

Lower gears give you a higher top speed but slower acceleration

Well I know that the 99-04 GT's governor kicks in around 150 or 155mph. The v6 being 135mph I believe. So I would imagine the 05-09 governors kick in at about the same speed.

i have a 2000 base v6 manuel everything is stock and it tops out at 118, a little before the 120 mark on the speedometer.

I've gotten my 2000 3.8 up to 116 at 3500 rpm before the governor kicked in. The sweet spot for torque to speed ratio is about 95 in 3rd.

I have a 07 4.0 l v6 an I just was running down the freeway with a 2011 5.0 a 1/4 car behind an my odometer stops at 120 an it was taped out from a 40 mph roll he pulled maybe out a car to a car in a half till I hit 90 mph an cought him all the way up to his quarter panel and stayed there for a while an my car never stop pulling it's the pony package with no emblem on the side which would be able to tell is. V6 I bought the car used I was wondering how it would run with a 5.0 an out run a 4.6 ??

Actually the top speed is closer to 199. I actually own one and have driven it past 172 mph. The 150 mph limit is set by a software governor. It is easily removed. Ford will do it for you if you ask. They will make you sign a waiver to do it for you.

YogiDbear... Are you talking about a 2018 Mustang? I was getting 170 MPH out of my Australian Monaro with a 6 lt L98 motor (chipped and tuned) and 372 hp at the tyers. I now own a 2018 mustang GT ...The Mustang with 430 hp at the tyers should be good to go way past that 170 MPH if the speed limiter was removed.

I have a 2014 base model v6 mustang and the speedometer reads to 160 but I haven't found where it shuts off, I've gotten to 115 and it wasn't shutting down

I have a 2013 v6 mustang and it tops out at about 118 before the 120 mark. Does anyone know how I’m able to make it go past that?
