Just got an 07 GTI fahrenheit, is road noise normal? Can I reduce it with different tires?

You certainly could search for quieter tires...but if the ones on it are in good condition, that could be an expensive fix. You might also be getting road "roar" from the taut suspension and turbulent air passing around the vehicle. You might consider the use of Dynamat to deaden sound in the cabin. It's a a little bit of work...removing the seats and carpet...but the effects can be dramatic...and you won't give up the performance of those sticky tires.
