A warning light in my 2007 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition resembling an exclamation mark (!) came on this am. What does this mean?

Take it to any Auto Zone or Advance Auto and they can scan the computer for you if you want to try to repair this yourself. Or just take it to a local mechanic.

Michael, thank you for your input. I have a neighbor that owns a computer to scan. Didn't want to bother him again, so that is why I'm searching for the answer elsewhere.

Well, is the car running rough? Generally, a flashing light means a misfire (not good). But it could be a maintenance reminder to change your oil. I would look in the owners manual first to see what the icons mean. I personally don't know. I avoid VWs like the plaque. If it indeed is a misfire, you can start with simple things like checking the spark plugs, or addressing what the computer says is wrong.
