Hi , hopefully ill get a response soon..I have a 89 lx 5.0 ,its an automatic ..need a 5 speed in

That is my question , i cant find a 5 speed tranny off of a 5.0 but for less than 200$$ i can get a 4 cylinder mustang 5 speed , is the tranny are exactly the same  in both ?? Thanks for your help

If you're gonna change the auto to a 5 speed, you'll need alot more than just the trans. This is something that I looked into years ago. Try to find a donor car, that way you have everything for the swap, once you are done, part out what's left so you can get some of your money back. As far as the 4 banger thing goes, I would not recomend it, the 5.0 would destroy it." if you could get it to fit" Look at spending way more than $200. Good luck. :)

I'm Pretty sure the LX models had the same manual trans for both engines, just different clutch

To make a 4 cyl. trans fit behind a V8 you will need a special size pilot bearing. I got the measurements and went to the parts store and made them look in the "book" (oh no !). If you search ebay you can also find a seller offering this bearing at a fairly big markup.
