Hello, Acutally, the proper spelling is "Ghia." In addition, it is not an acronym, but a name indicating a luxury model of Mustang for 1979. CarGrrl

Ghia was a trim option that Ford carried on many of its cars during the late 70's and earliy 80's. Mustangs, Fairmonts, and Granadas all had a Ghia option.
