my 2004 ford explorer makes a thumping noise when I am go about 40-50 mph and I take my foot off the gas.

I just had the rear differential seal replaced, and the mechanic said there is no other damage - no u joints, etc that are bad.  what could this be?

I'm going through the same same! Mines an 03 explorer, just replaced the back bearing and NW a thumping when I get off gas pedal at about 50 my pus abs light comes on/off?? Mechanic says everything is tight back there and u can also feel it in the steering but its thumping from the rear. He has no clue! ??
