Why wont it go into reverse or drive?

Asked by Brittany57709 May 22, 2020 at 06:52 PM about the 2004 Ford Explorer XLT Sport V8 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was out on the beach in 4wd and I was in drive driving off
the beach and then all of a sudden my car goes into neutral
mode while still being in drive. Now only 3rd and 2nd gear
works. No reverse or drive. Trying to figure out what it
would be. New tranny put in 2018.

I think your transmission is toast. Check the fluid level but you may have cooked it in the sand.
