You could replace just the head. Just Google "Chevy crate engines".
Thanks for the answer. Mechanic is saying to replace the engine with a crate, and not to replace the heads.. Plugs blowing out on both sides at 167K miles.
At that many miles you probably should put a new engine in it IF you plan on driving it for another 100k. Otherwise I would just replace the head and sell it.
How much for a crate 5.3 L Vortex Engine in a 05 Tahoe? Keep blowing spark plugs and heli coat no longer an option.
