2001 tahoe replaced battery now headlights and dome light won't work

Asked by Guru97LH2Y Feb 20, 2023 at 09:50 AM about the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the battery recently, since it was way over due. It started great and
drove fine. Since that was during the day, I did not notice that the dome light
and headlights would not turn on. The dimmer switch and headlight switch still
works. The override button does not. I tried setting it to automatic headlights,
but that did not work (pressing the dome override 4 times).

A 2001 normally doesn’t have BCM problems but it sounds like yours suffered a programming glitch during the main power replacement. You may need the dealer to do a re-flash of the computer systems. Any vehicle running OBD 2 needs a saver tool hooked up to the OBD2 port before the battery is disconnected.
