Convertible Alarm goes off everytime I take off from a stop position.

Asked by Pjcash Jul 19, 2015 at 10:41 AM about the 2006 Volkswagen Beetle 2.5L Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I am driving my car and I come to a stop sign and stop, when I take off the convertible alarm goes off.  The top is closed and I know it is locked.  Is there a fix for this or can I bypass it?

Have the top scanned for fault codes by a dealer or a VW shop equipped with Vagcom. Probably has a bad microswitch.

We have the exact same thing - when we are going slow or at a stop the alarm goes off when the top is down. 2005 new beetle. Was it a bad micro switch?
