How do I start car (or put into gear) without key?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have lost my car key, and am currently unable to
afford a replacement key. The replacement keys are
currently around $200. I don't have that kind of money,
times have been hard, and my car has been serving as
my home since February, when I lost the real one. I am
parked diagonally across two spaces in a hotel parking
lot and I cannot start it or put it into neutral so I'm
ableto push it into one space and hopefully avoid
having it towed. How can I, either Hotwire or get my car
into gear without a key, someone please help me here I
have nowhere else to turn.

Pound a screwdriver in key slot. Twist and pound. Then you should be able to use the driver to start and move the car. Google it, there's videos.
2004 requires a security chip inside the key so destroying the column won’t get it started, you need a good locksmith that can decode and cut a new key then reprogram the security system to recognize the new key. Have you tried Salvation Army for help.
I don't know where you got the $200 figure from. But it will cost less than $100 for a new key and programing to the vehicle at your local Ford Dealer. DO NOT destroy the ignition lock cylinder and attempt to start it with a screwdriver!! Those days are long gone! The only thing you will accomplish is the security system will shut down the vehicle leading to more expensive repairs! A local locksmith will be able to help you with this as well. But, like I said, don't try to get around the security system. You will not be successful and you will wind up wasting your money! Jim

Thanks for the update. That Utube video was crap. I forgot about the security system. that was pretty "animal car theif" stuff anyway.
